Fail-safe broadband with Netadmin
Intelligent technology to minimise the number of users affected by network stoppages

Swedish company Netadmin Systems, which develops software that automates business and operation processes in citywide and residential broadband networks, will be further developing intelligent error handling functions in its core product NETadmin.

Network stoppages and dissatisfied customers are amongst the worst things that can happen to broadband providers. Many newspaper articles about annoyed users unable to, for instance, access their e-mail over long periods of time have been published during recent years.

“There are plenty of systems on the market capable of monitoring broadband network hardware components and basic traffic flows, but NETadmin also monitors active subscribers and services used in the network – important facts to consider when various kinds of stoppages occur and network traffic needs to be rerouted. We can therefore reduce the number of affected customers to an absolute minimum,” said Anders Lindén, CEO of Netadmin Systems.

The company’s product, NETadmin, is a fully automated system for citywide and residential broadband networks that has been well received by the market. The company is market leading in the Nordic countries and has a sixty percent market share in Sweden.

The fully automated system is very advantageous to end users and broadband network owners alike. Users can choose any number of desired broadband services through a portal and access them immediately. It is, for instance, possible to pick an Internet service provider or to temporarily order access to a certain TV channel. To the network owner, the system drastically reduces operation costs and/or lets existing staff handle multiple times the current amount of customers. It also allows for valuable flexibility when connecting new service providers and launching new services such as IP telephony and HDTV in the networks.

“This development is part of our strategy to offer a product that automates all aspects of the network owner’s operations as far as possible,” said Lindén.

An important part of NETadmin’s appeal is that it automates operations so well that many broadband network owners have been able to cut their support and tech staff in half, or to outsource their first line support to third-party contractors without a need for detailed knowledge of the network.
