Netadmin Systems, a provider of software to automate operations and business processes in broadband networks, and NextiraOne, Europe’s leading experts in communications services, have been appointed by Associação de Municípios da Terra Quente Transmontana (AMTQT) to roll out a fibre optic broadband network to consumers in north-eastern Portugal.

AMTQT is a joint business owned by five municipalities in north-eastern Portugal with a total population of 70,000. It is currently responsible for supplying broadband connectivity to local authorities and businesses. Under this deal, private households will be offered access to new services, such as Internet, VoIP and IPTV.

Netadmin Systems and NextiraOne are working together to ensure interoperability, scalability and flexibility so that all services rolled out across the network will have guaranteed quality of service that meets the individual need of each end user.

The deal is being partly financed by the European Union in a project aiming to stimulate broadband network development in areas neglected by commercial telephone operators. The project involves 235 km of fibre optic cabling across the region, and a 10Gbps IP Cisco backbone that will be monitored and administrated by Netadmin’s system.
