Kubernetes support for Customer-Hosted Deployments

Kubernetes has become the de facto standard for running modern, scalable applications in many IT environments. For fiber network operators and Communication Service Providers, this often translates into higher expectations for portability, resilience, and long-term flexibility in how critical OSS/BSS systems are deployed.

Netadmin is assessing what Kubernetes support could mean for customer-hosted deployments of Netadmin Nine, and how it would complement or replace our existing Docker Swarm container orchestration approach.

What we aim to deliver

• A clear recommendation on if and when Kubernetes should be supported for customer-hosted deployments
• A proposed support approach, including a clear shared responsibility model between Netadmin and the customer
• Identified prerequisites and constraints (architecture, operations, and required competencies)
• Actionable next steps that guide our Cloud Journey roadmap, including how this aligns with Cloud Journey Milestone 2

What we will assess

• Customer demand and typical deployment patterns in target markets
• Operational requirements for production-grade Kubernetes deployments (reliability, upgrades, monitoring, security)
• Options for support models and lifecycle management (who operates what, and how)
• Implications for Netadmin delivery, documentation, and support processes

What this is not

• A commitment that Kubernetes support is available today
• A promise of a specific release date or delivery timeline
• A replacement of existing orchestration approaches in the short term
